1. Information on the Italian market
Remember that any successful export process starts with a market study. I recommend that you do not skip this first tip!
You have to analyze if your product is required by the Italian market. You can use Global Market Finder for this, a free commercial intelligence tool from Google.
You will also analyze who your competition is, what they offer and what are the sales prices that apply in the Italian market. You can do the searches on google but I suggest you use the web extension “.it” (www.google.it)
  2. Italian lifestyle and business culture
Italians are elegant people. They like to dress well and are very attentive to healthy eating and body care.
You have to offer innovative, high-quality products with good design and packaging for you to conquer the Italian market.
On the other hand, if your business is a B2B, you have to know that it is not the same to do business with entrepreneurs in northern or southern Italy and that a large number of Italian companies are characterized by:
 Being family businesses, family micro-enterprises have little business and organizational culture, little propensity for risk, and the purchase decision is made by one of the family members.
 Having only people with many years of experience in their managerial positions, as it is very difficult to find young people occupying these positions.
 Require certifications and high product quality standards.
  1. Certifications and requirements
It is very important that you know what the requirements and certifications are to export your product to Italy. You can check the free platform Market Access from the European Union or otherwise ask your freighter and/or logistics operator for information.
  2. Social media advertising
Internet advertising, especially through social media, allows you to reach your niche market faster, more efficiently and more affordably.
According to We are Social Hoot site’s Digital Report 2020, the 4 most widely used social networks in Italy are:
 Facebook with 29 million users (50% women and 50% men)
 Instagram with 20 million users (50.5% women and 49.5% men)
 Linkedin with 14 million users (47.3% women and 52.7% men)
 Pinterest with 12 million users (64% women and 36% men)
In order for the advertising investment to bring you good results, you have to know what social networks your target audience uses.
  3. Export strategy
To achieve your goal of exporting to Italy successfully, you have to create your export strategies which will help you define what actions you should perform.
